Role
Circle
Students
form a circle, not knowing what role they might be asked to take
on. The teacher enters a circle of students and puts the
children into the role desired by asking the first question. For
example, "Well, you are a cadet reporter for a big
newspaper what time do you start work? What have you got on your
desk?".
The
teacher continues asking questions around the circle – each
child assumes the selected role, (in this case the reporter of
the newspaper), and answers the teachers questions as they feel
a reporter would. Therefore a conversation is taking place with
each person in the circle in turn and everyone must concentrate
to maintain the flow.

Wax
Museum
Comes
To
Life
The
class is divided into two groups. Half the class is required to
take on the role of famous people frozen into a pose in the
museum. The teacher goes into role as the museum guide. The
children in the other half of the class walk through the museum
as keen feature writers. When touched on the shoulder by the
tour guide, the frozen exhibit must come to life. The famous
persona will then do and say things that will help reporters to
recognise him/her, then the reporter can interview this person.
At different times students might like the role of the museum
guide. The teacher might like to become an exhibit!
