Movies

Use the movie ads and time listings and your maths skills to solve this problem. If you wanted to see three movies in one day, what would you see, where and at what time? Be sure to allow travel time between movie theatres, if necessary. Estimate the distance and assume that you can drive 60 km per hour to get there. Present your solution in an easy-to-follow chart and ask someone to check your calculations and plan.

Cars

Find and clip a newspaper advertisement for an automobile that lists information about asking price, down payment and interest rates. Calculate the total cost of the automobile if it is bought for the asking price with the minimum down payment and financed over three years. Show all the steps you took to calculate the cost. Ask someone to check your calculations. How much would the cost change if the interest rate was lowered by one percentage point?
